In March 2020, Telema Latvia shared the knowledge about internal processes automation and supply chain information flow to the Entrepreneurship and Management students of Riga Technical University.
Telema Latvia’s Director Alda Brazune, Sales Director Valdis Zitars and IT Project Manager Ivars Krafts held three lecture sessions at Riga Technical University. Students were keen to learn how electronic data interchange and building connections between different software systems helps to optimise supply chain.
The major learning point was that compared to people, computers are better suited for large data processing, making no mistakes, saving time, being accurate and therefore improving operational efficiency. Automated processes mean that data is up-to-date and consistent and services are available 24/7. Human resources can focus on more sophisticated tasks building business relationships and planning growth. Last but not the least – automation, including EDI, decreases costs.
Even if future business leaders and middle managers will not use the electronic data interchange directly themselves, they will be the ones making the decisions. Understanding of automation options will allow them to make long term strategic decisions that provide competitive advantage.
Telema is continuously contributing to educating the market and future leaders in cooperation with several higher education institutions in Estonia, Lithuania and now Latvia.
